The Psalms have been quoted by Jesus and the New Testament writers more than any other book in the Old Testament. What makes the Psalms such an important book to reveal who Jesus is?

The writer of this psalm talks about two paths: one path leads to destruction, and the other path leads to life and blessing. How can you know which path you’re on, and what do you do to get on the right path?

In the second introductory psalm, we find the epic story revealed throughout all of the Psalms, the story not just of King David, but a greater King. This story is told from four speakers who will reveal the King Who will rule all of creation, whose kingdom will never end.

As we start looking at the first book of Psalms, we start noticing something unnerving. Trouble. A lot of it. David is surrounded by difficulty. How are we to see the trouble David experiences in light of the blessedness of those who walk the righteous path in Psalm 1 and 2? This is where it starts to get very interesting!

In Psalm 18, David reflects back to the many times that God delivered him from the hand of King Saul. In doing so, he reminds us of God's power in delivering us from our troubles, as well as His grace in helping us as we endure them.

In Psalm 78, Asaph the prophet tells the children of Israel a story. It's a story of God's goodness and faithfulness to his children. In his story, there's an unexpected plot twist. It unfolds a powerful truth that helps us as we also become storytellers to our children.

Today we're going to sit at the feet of David as he tells his story of the special way in which his Heavenly Father cares for him. It's the story of the good care of his Shepherd.

In the third verse of Psalm 23, we find two aspects of care of our Good Shepherd. In the way He restores us, and in the way He leads us. Each of these acts of care remind us of our own helplessness, but also of our security in Him.

In the fourth verse of Psalm 23, we discover two great transitions in how the Good Shepherd cares for his sheep. The first is a change of location in the sheep's life, and the second is a change in the relationship of the sheep and his Shepherd. What do these transitions look like in the life of a sheep? More importantly, what would they look like in your life?
